Succulent love

I like a good succulent now and then. But I have a confession to make: I tend to kill them.

I know. They're supposed to be so easy, right? You just stick them in a pot and forget about them, and they're gorgeous. That may be trueunless they belong to me. I am guilty of loving them (over-watering) and leaving them (under-watering) until all that's left of our relationship are a few brown twigs.

Still, I keep coming back for more. I had two random pots with succulent graveyards that needed to be replenished, and one pot that needed a little extra oomph. (I am not sure what a duck-shaped pot is doing with desert plants, but I digress).

I hit up the Marina del Ray Garden Center, which has an impressive selection of succulents. I like how it looks when you mix up different colors, shapes and textures. (When in doubt, just check out the arrangements at the garden store, and try to copy them). Though it's probably for the best that you don't take advice from me.*

*There's no guarantee these plants will be alive in 30 days. I say, let's live in the moment, and enjoy them while we can.
